Dr. ZHANG Wei, is Professor of Classics in the Department of History, Fudan University. He was educated in the United States, receiving his BA in Classics from Cornell University and his PhD in Classics from Johns Hopkins University. His scholarly interests include early Greek literature (Homer, Hesiod and lyric) and philosophy (Plato), especially how they intersect and interact with each other, as well as modern Chinese reception of Western classics. He has published on Hesiod and the early Greek elegists in a number of scholarly journals in China, Asia and the US. His recent monograph on poetic education in archaic Greece came out from Beijing University Press in 2018.
