LI Sher-shiueh received his Ph. D in comparative literature from the University of Chicago. He is a Research Follow of the Institute of Chinese Literature and Philosophy, Academia Sinica, with a joint appointment of professorship at National Taiwan Normal University and Catholic Fu-jen University. He is also appointed as Concurrent Professor of Intercultural Studies, Fu Jen Catholic University. Li has been affiliated with Research Center of Translation, Chinese University of Hong Kong, as Honorary Research Fellow since 2012. He has published widely on East-West comparative literature, most of which concerns Jesuit writings and translation activities in late-Ming and early Qing China. Because of his studies of Ming Jesuit use of Medieval Exemplum and his studies of Jesuit translation of European literature in late imperial China, he won the Academia Sinica Award for Junior Investigators (2003) and Academia Sinica Awards for Senior Investigators (2006 and 2011).  Li also won the Hong Kong based Stephen C. Soong Translation Studies Memorial Awards in 2010 and 2012. In addition to his Chinese works in this field, Li’s most recent publication is an English book entitled Jesuit Chreia in Late Ming China: Two Essays with An Annotated Translation of Alfonso Vagnone’s Illustrations of the Grand Dao (2014; co-authored with Thierry Meynard).
